This museum was built in
collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and also with
the Government of Yogyakarta and Sleman Regency. It is located at the southern
slope of Merapi. Its precise location is in Hargobinangun, Pakem, Sleman, 22
kilometers towards the north to Kaliurang road or before Kaliurang tourist
entrance to the west. In the museum displayed the photographs, many objects
which have been taken from nature and also theater, surveying equipments,
dioramas, and static-dynamic demonstrative tools.

Tourists can visit this
museum to know better about Merapi volcano, earthquake and tsunami, to the
ground movements, manuai and volcanoes, volcano monitoring, as well as the
world of volcanoes. The extra facilities which can be enjoyed such as good
asphalted road, restroom, information/guides and Rp.3.000,- admission per
individual.
